It's not often a unit takes preference in processing but this is a worthy shot I feel. With the line between Basingstoke and Salisbury closed for engineering work 'West of England' services from London Waterloo to Exeter St. Davids were diverted via Southampton Central, making an additional stop here and recreating the once through service from Southampton to Exeter. South West Trains Class 159 no. 013 leads a classmate past Eastleigh yard overtaking 444019 on a Waterloo to Poole service. Passing Allbrook in the distance a northbound Exeter to Waterloo service can be seen. The yard also has an interesting selection of visitors including 67016 waiting a 1754 departure on 5Z89 VSOE to Chichester, and an unidentified ex-Virgin Class 57 and Freightliner 66 mingling with the more usual DBS 66s. To top it off the whole scene is bathed in glorious late afternoon light further enhanced with a threatening black sky. Who says units aren't photworthy!?
