Marmite. You either love it or you hate it. Today I found myself loving it, and this was the working I was really after. General Electric's brand new Class 70 has had a rocky start
since entering service late last year, but for now they are surviving in traffic. Hopefully they will be with us for some time, and as such I was in no particular rush to nail an 'Ugly'.
Some photographers prefer to just 'nip in' and grab the static shot, but this didn't do it for me and I decided to bide my time waiting for 'the perfect wave'. Friday 19th Feb
sees Freightliner 'PowerHaul' Class 70 no. 70003 charge around the bend near Coaley working the 4Z70 Rugeley - Stoke Gifford empty coal hoppers. Having been looped
at Haresfield for a Voyager it was impressive to watch this speed past at around the 70mph mark, showing the sheer power these things are capable of.
Thanks must go to Paul Woollard for his efforts in 'tidying' this location up, and for the enjoyable company during the wait.
