We started our road trip in Houston, Texas in mid-March and not knowing what to expect weather wise and railroad wise I wasted no time in making an early diversion to an area of interest to at least view some trains. On the journey to San Antonio a few days in we called in at the Rosenberg Railroad Museum which was a worthwhile visit, not least because it sits adjacent to a 3-way junction and busy mainline. It wasn't long before my first trains were viewed, and I was keen to sit and watch for an hour or so. Whilst waiting this short train arrived and sat waiting for a path. At the helm are two interesting locomotives for the modern day scene (rather like our Class 37s I guess), in the form of BNSF EMD GP39-2's nos. 2861 & 2865, the former still carrying a somewhat battered original Santa Fe livery. The locos were built in 1977 and are now confined to lighter duties on the network, hence this short trip working off the branch line from Galveston.
